Integration of support and development services

It has become increasingly apparent to us that the separation of the support and development teams is artificial and we would like to introduce a new way of working.

Both support and development teams rely on each other and spend a lot of time discussing problems and opportunities.  We are also aware that not everyone here can know everything about all our products.

Instead we propose to form one single technical services section.  

Rather the being split into two artificial groups, we are planning to organise ourselves around the various product and infrastructure headings.

This means that when you call with a problem or an enquiry you will be directed to those people that know the product intimately, and will be able to help more quickly.

Of course, a serious problem (such as the system being down) will be handled immediately by the whole team.

The proposed list of headings is:

• Clarion (including call and informer) (KM, MK)
• APC (AB, GL, SG)
• Reporting (KW, GL)
• Interfacing (KM, CB)
• Primary Care (AB, CB)
• Wayfinder (KW, KL)
• Hardware (AB, CB)
• Database and OS (AB, GL, KM)
• New builds and upgrades (KL, SG)
• Quality Assurance (KL, MK)

The first name is the prime lead on support and development of the product, and the following names their backup.
